TO PRODUCE MORE THAN 4 BCF

On September 29, 2021, Kinetrex Energy (Kinetrex), a Kinder Morgan, Inc. company, announced the start of construction activities on three renewable natural gas (RNG) facilities in Indiana. The three sites are located at the Twin Bridges Landfill in Danville, the Prairie View Landfill in Wyatt and the Liberty Landfill in Monticello. The new RNG facilities are designed to capture methane produced from landfills and convert that methane into pipeline-quality natural gas. This capture process reduces or eliminates greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions at the landfill and provides low-cost, efficient renewable energy. Upon completion, the total annual RNG production from all facilities is estimated to be more than 4 billion cubic feet (bcf).

TWIN BRIDGES LANDFILL GAS TO RNG PROJECT

This renewable natural gas facility is being constructed near Waste Management’s Twin Bridges Landfill in Danville County, Indiana and will convert approximately 8.64 mmscfd of landfill gas to pipeline quality. The construction also includes a 5-mile pipeline lateral to transport the renewable natural gas to a nearby third-party transmission pipeline.

LIBERTY LANDFILL GAS TO RNG PROJECT

This project includes the development of a renewable natural gas facility that will produce 8.64 mmscfd, along with the construction of the Liberty RNG Lateral – an approximately 12-mile, 4 inch-diameter pipeline lateral, to transport renewable natural gas captured from the Liberty Landfill near Monticello, White County, Indiana to an interconnect with an existing third-party pipeline in Cass County, Indiana.

PRAIRE VIEW LANDFILL GAS TO RNG PROJECT

This renewable natural gas facility is being constructed at Waste Management’s Prairie View Landfill in St. Joseph County, Indiana. Once the gas is processed, the renewable natural gas will be delivered via pipeline to the nearby third-party transmission pipeline.

INDY HIGH BTU: INDIANA’S LARGEST RNG FACILITY

Commissioned in 2020, Indy High BTU is the largest renewable natural gas plant in Indiana, USA. The plant converts landfill gas from the South Side Landfill into 800,000 mmBtu of pipeline-quality RNG each year, which when used in transport, displaces about 28 million gallons of diesel.
