An encroachment, also known as a crossing, can be a temporary or permanent structure across, on, along or under a facility or pipeline right-of-way. An encroachment can also mean equipment or machinery crossing over the pipeline right-of-way or facility site.

Safe excavation practices are key to a successful project and it is important to know that not all pipelines follow a straight line. If you're planning a project involving digging or any type of ground disturbance including, building a fence, planting a tree or installing a swimming pool, it's important to call 811 or your local One-Call Center before you dig to have underground utilities located and marked.
