Experts from Kinetrex Energy will offer advice and ideas on alternate fuel sources on February 19, 2018 at the Grain and Feed Association of Illinois (GFAI) Convention and Trade Show. In its 125th year, the event aims to provide a place for industry professionals to reconnect and share information, ideas, products and services. Kinetrex experts will focus their panel discussion on the benefits of fueling grain dryers with liquefied natural gas (LNG) rather than propane.

“Our experience providing LNG gives us a unique perspective into the specific needs of those in the agriculture industry,” said Aaron Johnson, president and chief operating officer, Kinetrex Energy. “We are excited to discuss the cost-effective, reliable alternative solution to propane.”

Kinetrex leads the Midwest in supplying LNG and operates two production facilities in Indianapolis. The plants connect to four interstate gas pipelines that convert natural gas to a liquefied form that is ready to be trucked and stored anywhere in the United States. In its liquid form, natural gas is safe, stored under low pressure and easily transportable.

Last fall, Roanoke Farmers Association, Grainland Cooperative and Archer Daniels Midland (ADM) converted grain dryers on their locations from propane to LNG supplied by Kinetrex. Representatives from Roanoke and Grainland will sit on the panel and offer their experiences with the company and its product. Kinetrex experts will also explain the process, requirements and cost associated with equipping a site for LNG.

“We have seen, over the last year, the benefits of LNG versus propane,” said Johnson. “The agricultural industry is very innovative and willing to deploy new technology so long as they are assured of a positive economic return and reliable operations. During this panel we will share our experiences, address concerns, remove barriers and offer suggestions on how to evaluate fueling options.”

The GFAI Convention and Trade Show kicks off at the Peoria Civic Center Sunday, February 18 and goes until Tuesday, February 20. The panel featuring Kinetrex takes place Monday, February 19 at 11:15 a.m. C.T.
