Reliability, Cost Stability, and Flexibility: LNG at Scale

Posted on Thursday, May 21, 2026

Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) is already a proven fuel solution across many industries including transportation, industrial manufacturing, utilities, and agriculture. These sectors depend on consistent energy to keep operations running every day. Aerospace and data centers are now exploring LNG as a strong and flexible energy source to enable those industries’ needs for reliability and operational resilience.

To meet these diverse and expanding energy needs, LNG offers a dependable fuel solution that is transportable to locations where pipeline access is limited.

Kinder Morgan’s Midwest LNG network is built to deliver that performance, reliably.

A Network Designed for Reliability and Scale

Kinder Morgan operates a portfolio of Midwest LNG facilities designed with flexibility in mind.

Our facilities have unique capabilities:
  • High-capacity liquification and storage to support consistent, large-scale demand
  • Flexible loading and distribution options
  • Strategic locations that enable efficient delivery to end users
  • Reliable operations backed by Kinder Morgan's extensive natural gas infrastructure
Kinder Morgan’s Midwest LNG facilities demonstrate how these capabilities come together in practice.

An Integrated Energy Solution

Choosing the right fuel partner means more than finding a supply source - it means finding a partner that delivers on cost stability, operational flexibility, fuel availability, and customer service. Kinder Morgan’s Midwest LNG network is built to deliver on all four.

Cost Stability

For industrial manufacturers, asphalt producers, agriculture operations, and other sectors managing rising fuel costs, natural gas offers a price‑competitive alternative to diesel, propane, and fuel oil. Based on U.S. Energy Information Administration data, U.S. diesel prices increased by approximately 62% from January to early April 2026,1 while Henry Hub natural gas prices rose by only ~6–7% over the same period,2 reflecting significantly lower volatility. The United States’ abundant domestic natural gas supply, documented by the U.S. Department of Energy, 3 further reinforces natural gas as a scalable, stable energy resource.

Operational Flexibility

LNG works on your schedule, not the other way around. Because natural gas can be liquefied and transported when pipeline access isn’t feasible, LNG becomes a mobile fuel solution that can go directly to your operation. This enables faster startup by avoiding long lead times and capital costs associated with pipeline installation, and supports mobile delivery directly to customer sites through high‑capacity LNG tanker trucks, a standard transport method recognized by the U.S. Energy Information Administration.4 Customers can scale volumes up or down based on seasonal demand, project timelines, or operational shifts, supporting reliable supply exactly when and where it’s needed.

Abundant Fuel Availability

Supported by the United States’ abundant natural gas resource base, estimated at 3,863 trillion cubic feet by the American Gas Association,5 Kinder Morgan’s Midwest LNG facilities have dependable access to natural gas supplies to support operations throughout the Midwest. Each of our LNG facilities can produce up to 125,000 gallons of LNG per day and is connected to four intrastate pipelines, supporting consistent access to natural gas supply even during periods of high demand. With two loading stations per facility, each facility is capable of fueling 48 truckloads daily, and customers can scale delivery volumes up or down based on seasonal demand, project requirements, or operational shifts. Whether you need steady baseload supply or the ability to ramp up quickly during peak periods; Kinder Morgan’s Midwest LNG infrastructure is designed to adapt to your operational needs.

Dedicated Customer Service

Kinder Morgan’s customer service team stands behind every delivery and is dedicated to making LNG work seamlessly for your operations.
