INDIANAPOLIS, IN – Kinetrex Energy released a new online GHG emissions calculator today that makes it simple for fleet managers to measure their greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions as a first step in creating a more “greener” vehicle fleet. Users enter the number of gallons of diesel fuel their fleet consumes annually and the calculator automatically provides a “greenhouse gas accounting.”
“It’s now common knowledge that natural gas vehicles, particularly those running on renewable natural gas, are the cleanest practical alternative fuel transportation technology available today,” said Aaron Johnson, CEO of Kinetrex Energy. “Our new greenhouse gas emissions calculator will indicate just how much cleaner your fleet can be by using Kinetrex fuel.”
The focus on environmental sustainability has become a priority for many fleet owners in the United States. Heavy duty vehicles total 7% of all vehicles on America’s roadways, however, they account for upwards of 50 percent of all smog-precursor emissions and 20 percent of all transportation-related greenhouse gases.
In simple terms, offsetting one ton of carbon means there will be one less ton of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere than there would otherwise have been. One of the fastest way for fleets to achieve this kind of reduction and reduce total cost of operations is converting to Liquefied Renewable Natural Gas (LRNG).
RNG is the cleanest and highest quality transportation fuel available. In fact, RNG is cleaner than electric and offers additional per gallon savings. RNG is produced by capturing and refining fugitive methane, called biogas, produced from municipal wastewater treatment systems, animal waste and landfills.
